Many people know and understand the value of having a well defined estate plan. If you don't please see this blog post about estate plans. Part of any estate plan is creating a Last Will and Testament. A person who dies without a will is said to have "died intestate." Intestate simply means you did not have a valid will in force at the time of your death and therefore how your property is disposed to the next generation (or to the government...) is determined by the state statutory process called "intestate succession." It is important to prepare a will or have a will prepared. Your property will be passed along for you. Do you want to decide, or do you like the default plan provided by state statute? Please contact our office if you have questions about your estate plan and whether you would like a Last Will and Testament, as this is one of the Peterson Legal Team's primary practice areas.
